Installation & Maintenance Manual

SuperKlean Hot & Cold Water Mixing Station — Northeast Controls Inc.

⚠ Do Not Discard — Save and Display Prominently Where Equipment Is Used

Never

  • Allow children or unauthorized personnel to handle equipment.
  • Put your hand or fingers in front of the nozzle.
  • Point the nozzle at yourself or anyone else.
  • Leave the washdown station unattended without releasing pressure.
  • Use any foreign means to hold the trigger in the open position.
  • Overtighten threaded connections — always use the proper size wrench.
  • Use wrench extensions.
  • Reuse compressed gaskets — reusing gaskets may cause leakage.
  • Pulse the nozzle while operating the mixing station.

Before and During Spraying

  • Hold the nozzle firmly before pulling the trigger.
  • Maintain proper footing to withstand nozzle recoil.
  • Exercise care while spraying.
  • Avoid contact with hot, non-insulated nozzle surfaces.
  • Wear heavy-duty insulated gloves, boots, protective apron, and safety glasses.
  • Stop spraying before becoming fatigued.

Before Removing the Nozzle or Performing Service

  • Shut off all water supplies.
  • Relieve system pressure by operating the spray nozzle.
Do not operate the equipment if there are leaks from the spray nozzle, fittings, or hose. High-pressure leaks can penetrate the skin and cause serious injury.

1
The unit is rated for water pressures up to 150 PSI. A pressure gauge installed upstream of the water inlet is recommended to verify constant operating pressure.
2
SuperKlean recommends installing inlet strainers on both water supply lines to prevent debris from entering the mixing unit.
3
Thoroughly flush both water supply lines before installation.
4
Verify that both globe valves or ball valves are fully closed.
5
The mixing unit is now ready for installation.
1
Position the mounting plate on the wall and mark the four mounting holes.
2
Drill 12 mm (or equivalent) holes. Drill deep enough so only the threaded ends protrude beyond the wall.
3
Install the supplied anchor bolts.
4
Secure the mounting plate with the supplied anchor bolt nuts.
5
Install the mixing unit using the two shorter upper mounting bolts.
6
Install the hose rack using the two longer lower mounting bolts.
7
Tighten all four mounting bolts securely.
8
If supplied, install the temperature gauge. Use pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on the gauge threads.
9
Connect the hot and cold water supply lines. Use PTFE tape or equivalent thread sealant.
10
Install the hose using the 3/4" NPT outlet connection.
11
Install the spray nozzle using the 1/2" NPT connection.
12
Slowly open the cold-water globe valve or ball valve.
  • Pressurize the system and inspect for leaks. If leaks are found: shut off the valve, depressurize, repair the leaking joint, reassemble, and retest.
13
Slowly open the hot-water globe valve or ball valve.
  • Pressurize the system and inspect for leaks. If leaks are found: shut off the valve, depressurize, allow the unit to cool, repair the leaking joint, reassemble, and retest.
14
When both valves are fully open and no leaks are present, the unit is ready for operation.

Before disassembly: shut off both hot and cold water supply valves, depressurize the mixing unit by operating the spray nozzle, and allow the unit to cool completely before servicing.

Check Valve Replacement (Globe Valve Units Only)

1
Remove the check valve connection nut.
2
Remove the check valve from the globe valve.
3
Install the replacement check valve.
Replacement Part Numbers: CV-WATER-B (Brass) / CV-WATER-S (Stainless Steel)
4
Always install a new copper gasket (GVCP-14). Never reuse an old compressed gasket.

Globe Valve Stem Packing & Poppet Replacement

1
Remove the globe valve stem nut using a crescent wrench or box-end wrench (turn counterclockwise). The complete stem assembly will come out along with the globe valve poppet and stem nut gasket.
Note: The globe valve poppet is free-floating and will separate from the stem.
2
Remove the hand wheel nut, lock washer, and nameplate.
3
Gently tap the hand wheel outward and remove it by hand.
4
Remove the push-down cap and push-down sleeve from the stem guide. The PTFE stem packing will now be visible.
5
Turn the hand wheel stem guide clockwise until it can be removed through the inside of the valve.
6
Using a pick or similar tool, remove all old packing material.
7
Reinstall the hand wheel stem by turning it counterclockwise.
8
Install new PTFE stem packing. Replacement Part: GVCP-8
9
Install the push-down nut — hand tighten only.
10
Install a new globe valve poppet and new gasket. Replacement Part: GVCP-10
11
Reassemble the valve in reverse order.
12
Operate the mixing unit. If slight leakage is observed around the valve stem, slowly tighten the push-down nut until leakage stops. Do not overtighten.
Is a strainer required at the inlets to prevent debris from entering the unit?
SuperKlean recommends the use of strainers on both supply lines to prevent particulates and foreign debris from entering the mixing unit. It is also very important that all supply lines are thoroughly flushed before installation to remove any debris.
What is the output pressure of the mixing unit?
The outlet pressure is approximately equal to the incoming water pressure.
My pipe threads are leaking. What should I do?
Ensure that a suitable pipe thread sealant was used during assembly. Standard NPT pipe threads require thread sealant to produce a leak-free joint. Examples include PTFE (Teflon®) thread tape or pipe thread compound. Reference: ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 Pipe Thread Standard.
