Why DuraReel

KEEP HOSES OFF THE FLOOR

Modern plant managers and safety crews pay close attention to keeping large, hot water hoses off the ground. Wet hoses slow floor drying and create tripping hazards. Hot water hoses dragged across concrete floors accumulate microscopic grooves that shorten their lifespan.

SuperKlean DuraReel hose reels have been used in the finest food and beverage production facilities worldwide for over 30 years — providing automatic retraction that minimizes the work required of plant personnel and keeps floors safer and drier between washdown cycles.

  • Keeps hoses off wet floors — reduces tripping hazards for plant workers
  • Drier floors between washdown cycles — inhibits bacterial and pathogen growth
  • Extends hose life by eliminating floor abrasion and microscopic groove formation
  • Faster, more efficient washdown — workers retrieve and store hoses in seconds
  • Compact wall-mount footprint — ideal for plants with limited floor space
  • Reduces hose kinking, tangling, and premature wear

MOUNTING OPTIONS

WM
Wall / Truck Mount

Standard configuration. Mounts to wall studs or structural steel. Guide arm adjusts for optimal hose routing.

FM
Floor / Ceiling Mount

Pedestal base bolts to floor or overhead structure. Ideal where wall mounting is not practical.

BM
Bottom / Truck Mount

Undercarriage mount for mobile washdown carts and vehicles. Keeps reel protected and hose accessible.

Guide arm adjusts to wall, floor, vehicle, and overhead positions. Specify mounting option when ordering if non-standard configuration is required.

Installation

INSTALLATION GUIDE

From the official DR8 & DR8S Installation and Maintenance Manual. Save and display prominently where this equipment is used.

INLET HOSE INSTALLATION

  1. 1

Apply thread sealant to inlet hose and connect to the swivel joint on reel.

Use a FLEXIBLE inlet hose. Do not use solid piping or restrain inlet hose — side force on the swivel joint voids the warranty.
  2. 2

Flush product through the system before connecting inlet hose to the supply source.

  3. 3

Install inlet hose into swivel assembly by hand tightening, then ½ turn with wrench. Do not over-tighten — may damage swivel.

  4. 4

If reel includes hose: flush product through system before connecting end fitting, nozzle, or tool.

  5. 5

If reel is supplied less hose: apply thread sealant to outlet hose fitting. Connect end fitting, nozzle, or tool as desired.

  6. 6

If hose stopper adjustment is required: latch reel at desired location, loosen the two ball stop bolts, move ball stop, tighten bolts, then unlatch reel.

  7. 7

Connect inlet hose to supply source.

OUTLET HOSE INSTALLATION

  1. 1

    Securely stabilize the reel.

Note: Ensure you are installing the correct size, length, and type of hose per the reel rating. Consult factory if unsure.
  2. 2

Wind the reel drum clockwise (facing the swivel) until the spring is tight.

Use extreme caution when winding the drum.
  3. 3

Back off approximately two turns and lock the reel drum to prevent rotation.

  4. 4

Insert the MALE fitted end of the hose through the roller guide arm and through the cutout in the side of the drum flange.

  5. 5

The MALE hose fitting should now be on the outside of the drum. Apply thread sealant, connect hose fitting to the swivel joint, and secure the hose with the two hose clamps.

Note: Hose clamps restrain the hose when fully extended, preventing strain between fittings and swivel joint.
  6. 6

CAREFULLY release the locking ratchet and SLOWLY allow the hose to retract onto the reel.

Maintenance

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES

Step-by-step procedures for spring tension adjustment, swivel seal replacement, and spring canister replacement.

Improper tensioning or adding too many pre-wraps may damage the spring mechanism. Only authorized personnel should make adjustments.
  1. 1Release line pressure prior to making spring adjustments.
  2. 2Disconnect inlet hose.
  3. 3Pull out approximately 6 feet (2 m) of hose and latch the drum.
  4. 4Add or subtract one wrap of hose to acquire proper tension. Adding wraps increases tension; subtracting decreases tension.
  5. 5Unlatch drum and check for proper tension.
  6. 6Reconnect inlet hose.
